As we get older our sight sometimes worsens. We might find the need to go to an eye doctor and get glasses or contacts. We lose focus of the things ahead of us and thankfully we have resources that help us see better. The same is with our relationship with God. We start off seeing clearly but things get in the way, different fogs cause us to lose our focus on God. Good news is that we also have many resources that can clarify our few. Such resources are those like reading the manual (Bible), talking to Him one-to-one (prayer), seeking guidance from spiritual leaders, and my personal favorite, reading books that can strengthen your relationship.
The book I’m currently reading is titled Weird: because normal isn’t working (underline or italicize please) by Craig Groeschel. I will tell you a bit about this book as I hope you can also pick it up and let God speak to you as he has been speaking to me. The first chapter titled “Time” really hit me hard. We live in a society where we are chasing after deadlines, living in a rush and not enjoying the present day. Sometimes we tend to be like Martha and run wild trying to do all these things to impress God but He really wants us to be like Mary, sit at His feet and just spend time with Him. Groeschel shows that this also implies and connects to our family and how he decides to leave other things aside to spend time with his children that will only be that age for a limited time. I take this to enjoy my family, nieces and nephews that seem to grow an inch every time I see them. Don’t let busyness get in the way of living the life God has given you. Lets not make excuses that we don’t have time to do things that will help us get closer to God. You have enough time to do everything God wants you to do. And remember not to get so busy because if the devil can’t make us really bad, then he’ll try to make us really busy. Normal people are busy. Jesus wasn’t normal. Let’s be like Jesus. Let’s be weird.
